KS1 trip to Mablethorpe – Tuesday 27th June 2017
Key Stage 1 have been to Mablethorpe as part of their topic work on the seaside. It took a long time to get there, but it was worth it as it was lots of fun! The children wrote poems, built sandcastle and wrote postcards. Their favourite activity was running into the sea and splashing about in it; it was wonderful!
In our commitment to ensure high standards in all subjects, Derwent Primary School recently became involved with an arts and culture scheme called ArtsMark, accredited by Arts Council England. It encourages and helps schools to increase their provision for all types of art and cultural experiences, focusing on the journey rather than an end result, as well as supporting children’s confidence and growing development across these subjects.
To begin our journey, in the week beginning 10th– 14th July 2017 all the children of Derwent Primary School took part in ‘Arts Week’ in the afternoons. This focused on a particular artist relevant to that year group and a skill set which the children developed throughout the week. This was a great opportunity for the children to become more engaged with a variety of artists and different forms of expression. The children had great fun and it produced some amazingly creative pieces.
